N•RAIL Trains Running - August 2nd, 2018
Video of my rains actually running. A friend of mine wanted to see some train action. Not that my droning on about my layout plans is a bore.
Right? :::grin:::

July 2018 Update: A whole lot of little things
Well, not a whole lot to report of late. My recent layoff gave me a lot more time to work on the layout, but I've been spending the time looking for a new job and worrying about finding a new job instead. :::grin::: The funny thing is, if I worked on the layout more, I'd probably be less stressed about the job front. Go figure.
UPDATE VIDEO:
Today's music for the post:

My daughter wanted to run trains around the other day and I dropped everything and set it up for her. I had just cleaned the track a few days earlier, so it was a rather successful time for her. I was impressed by the care she was taking to keep the trains running at a slower speed. I've talked to them about it in the past, but she really remembered.
The other thing was to remember that the big take away I want for her is to have fun with it. I basically kept my mouth shut and enjoyed her enjoyment of seeing things go around. She also re-noticed that she, her sisters, and her brother all have spaces on the layout in the downtown section.(( You can see her spy them in the video )) Pretty cute to see her light up and say, "Hey...there's my toy shop...and Sen's candy shop..." :)
I've started working on the coverage project for this summer. I'd like to have all the bare spaces covered with scenery by the end of the summer. I think I can do it. I'm going to spend 30 to 45 minutes a day on it if I can. Just knock it out little by little. It's going to be good for my recharging as well.
So, for now I move forward, pace myself, and make sure I'm only working on the layout when the mood is right. That's another thing that's come up. There are times I'll be working on the layout, but I won't FEEL like working on it. That just causes frustration. As soon as that happens, I make sure I walk away. I want this to be fun, not work.

April 2018 Time Capsule - Where Things Stand Now
I like doing these little time capsule videos every once in a while. They are a lot of fun to look back on. It's great to look back on to see how things have progressed.
While things are not back to the way they were in REV 02, REV 03 is slowly getting there.

And, a new addition to the fleet - Kato 10-1418 Series M250 Super Rail Cargo (New Design Container) Basic Set (Four Car) with another set to follow shortly. I want to get the add-on cars for this guy.
Ok...back to work!

Out of the ashes...a new layout arrises!
WOO HOO! I finally broke my buildings out of their boxes and popped them back onto the layout! SO HAPPY!
I still have a LOT of shifting, plotting, planning, and building to do, but it's great to have things back on the layout again. The new layout is providing some new interests as well - some cool shots and scenes.
Funny, but when I was doing my planning, I completely forgot the residential area. Oops. I found a fix that should work, however. We'll see. The raised track areas are visually fun. Can't wait to scenic them!
The new Soyokaze Village area is a lot of fun. I might make it a walking only area with a few exceptions for deliveries and the like. I've seen some areas in Japan that have this. I think it would be fun to have little chains and poles roping off the area with a bunch of people walking around as tourists.

| I also need to look at how people get up to the temple area - walkways and the like. Maybe clay. |
The Soyokaze Town area is currently split up a bit. I need to work on it.
I'm trying to sort out how the heck I'm going to scenic the mountain in the background! hehehe I should have made it a module instead of building it in place. We'll see how it goes. : /
Not much changed in the yard area.
Shizuka needs some shifting and shuffling, but it's going to be a good space, I think.
So glad to have things out of boxes and to have the space back in my office space!
Now begins the building shifting and shuffling phase I love! Always a lot of fun. I also want to scenic up Temple Hill - it's become a tradition to have that done first. The Harbor Section is a bit forgotten. I need to dial that in a bit as well. I'm still sorting some things out there. For some reason, the new space is a little more difficult than it used to be.
Ahhhh....happy camper! :) Thanks for reading!

Plaster - a messy necessity
Well, after swearing off plaster the last time I used it, I dove back in after thinking it through. I had SO MUCH space to cover that using the bag of plaster and towels seemed like the best way to go.

I slathered a bunch of brown base paint down to get rid of the white. It really helped to give me a sense of completion.
After that was locked down and drying, I snagged a module off my back area of the layout and took it outside for a little photo session. The gray skies give a great photo light.
